Seminar on “Understanding the Protection of Critical Infrastructures
(Computer Systems) Ordinance to Enhance Data Security”

The Protection of Critical Infrastructures (Computer Systems) Ordinance (the Ordinance) came into effect on 1 January 2026. The Ordinance aims to impose statutory obligations on designated critical infrastructures operators, requiring them to adopt appropriate measures to protect their computer systems, minimising the risk of essential services being disrupted or compromised owing to cyberattacks, thereby maintaining the normal functioning of the society and the daily lives of citizens.
To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Office of the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data (PCPD), the PCPD will organise a series of seminars on data security and artificial intelligence security. With the Ordinance now being in force, the PCPD organises this seminar as the first event of the data security seminar series, with a view to helping participants understand how to comply with the requirements under the Ordinance. The seminar will also introduce practical measures to enhance cybersecurity, and discuss how to prevent and handle data breach incidents.
Organisations across all sectors that deploy ICT to handle data, as well as members of the public with an interest in the topic, are welcome to attend.
