Promoting Privacy Protection in AI — PCPD Representative Speaks at “Roundtable: The Development of Regulation and Professional Guidance on Medical AI in Hong Kong”

Senior Legal Counsel of the Office of the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data (PCPD), Ms Joyce LIU, attended the “Roundtable: The Development of Regulation and Professional Guidance on Medical AI in Hong Kong” co-organised by the Centre for Medical Ethics and Law of the University of Hong Kong, PHG Foundation of the University of Cambridge and the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine on 19 September 2026, where she delivered a speech and participated as a panellist in a roundtable discussion.
 
In her speech titled “Navigating Data Privacy Risks in Medical AI”, Ms LIU discussed the key personal data privacy risks arising from the use of medical AI tools. She also highlighted the various guidance materials issued by the PCPD, including the “Guidance on the Ethical Development and Use of Artificial Intelligence” and “Artificial Intelligence: Model Personal Data Protection Framework”, and shared some practical steps that the healthcare profession can take to ensure the safe and responsible adoption of medical AI.
