Promoting Privacy Protection in AI – Privacy Commissioner Speaks at the Directors’ Symposium 2026
The Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data (Privacy Commissioner), Ms Ada CHUNG Lai-ling, attended the Directors’ Symposium 2026 organised by the Hong Kong Institute of Directors on 10 September 2026 and spoke as a panellist in a panel discussion.
At the panel discussion titled “Boardroom Accountability: Balancing AI Innovation with Governance”, the Privacy Commissioner highlighted the importance of sound AI governance and introduced the various guidance materials issued by her Office, including the “Artificial Intelligence: Model Personal Data Protection Framework” published in 2024, “Checklist on Guidelines for the Use of Generative AI by Employees” published in 2025 and the “Protecting Personal Data Privacy in the Use of Agentic AI” published last month. She also shared practical recommendations to assist boards in leading their organisations to establish AI governance frameworks, harness the benefits of AI while safeguarding personal data privacy.
