The Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data (Privacy Commissioner), Ms Ada CHUNG Lai-ling, was interviewed by GovInsider, an Asia-Pacific public sector media platform, to share her views on the intersection of law, technology and public service and reflect on her Office’s work on promoting AI security.
The Privacy Commissioner highlighted that data protection authorities can be enablers of innovation, guiding technological change by cultivating a lawful, secure and supportive environment. She also introduced the various AI-related guidelines published by her Office, including the “Artificial Intelligence: Model Personal Data Protection Framework” and the “Checklist on Guidelines for the Use of Generative AI by Employees”, and spoke about her Office’s international efforts in promoting AI governance, including being the co-chair of the Ethics and Data Protection in Artificial Intelligence Working Group and the International Enforcement Cooperation Working Group at the Global Privacy Assembly.
