Reaching Out to the Insurance Sector – Assistant Privacy Commissioner Speaks at a Webinar Entitled “Evolving Hong Kong Personal Data Privacy and Cybersecurity Risks and the Implications on Cyber Insurance”

The Assistant Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data (Compliance, Global Affairs and Research) of the Office of the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data (PCPD), Ms Joanne WONG, delivered a keynote speech at a webinar entitled “Evolving Hong Kong Personal Data Privacy and Cybersecurity Risks and the Implications on Cyber Insurance” organised by the Professional Liability Underwriting Society on 23 April 2025.

In her speech, Ms WONG provided an overview of the six Data Protection Principles under the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance and explained the latest trends in cyberattacks and data breach incidents. She also highlighted the personal data privacy risks posed by artificial intelligence and introduced the “Artificial Intelligence: Model Personal Data Protection Framework” and the “Checklist on Guidelines for the Use of Generative AI by Employees” published by the PCPD earlier.
