(26 January 2016) The Office of the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data announced the appointment of a new member and re-appointment of four incumbent members to the Standing Committee on Technological Developments ("SCTD") today and their term will last till 31 December 2017.
The SCTD was established to advise the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data (the “Commissioner”) on the impact of the developments in the processing of data and computer technology on the privacy of individuals in relation to personal data.
The Commissioner Mr Stephen Kai-yi WONG who chairs the SCTD said, “The rapid advances in information and communications technology create a variety of opportunities and challenges. We have to consider the future of data protection law and the practical steps that we can take to keep up with the development in the digital age. I look forward to working closely with all members of the SCTD whose distinguished expertise and experience will continue to be instrumental to strengthening our work in securing the protection of data privacy of the individual in the best interest of the community.”
