Public Forum: "Electronic Health Record Sharing System from a Privacy Perspective"

A territory-wide Electronic Health Record Sharing system has been introduced in Hong Kong, which has created new challenges for medical practitioners in ensuring patients' data being correct and accessible only to authorized persons. To help relevant stakeholders have better understanding on this topic, the PCPD has organized a public forum on 12 June 2009.

This Public Forum was part of the 31st Asia Pacific Privacy Authorities (APPA) meeting hosted by the PCPD. In addition to the APPA members from Australia, New Zealand, Canada, South Korea and Hong Kong, over 180 representatives of public and private medical institutions, government officials, stakeholders of relevant fields, and members of the Data Protection Officers' Club also attended the Public Forum.

Three experts from Hong Kong were invited to speak on the subject from different perspectives:

"The Future of Health Informatics in Hong Kong", Dr. N T Cheung, Consultant (eHealth), Food and Health Bureau, HKSAR
