The emergence of big data and the evolving artificial intelligence promote efficiency and create opportunities to the community at large, including the trading and commercial sectors, but at the same time pose challenges to personal data privacy. The speakers will share some recent applications of big data analytics and artificial intelligence, look into the challenges and privacy risks associated with these innovative technologies, and explore the possible solutions.

This seminar is designed for those who are interested in approaching apps development with data protection in mind, with the concept of transparency and the compliance of data protection principles.

Briefing on the Guidance on Personal Data Protection in Cross-border Data Transfer
This briefing will give participants an introduction to the requirements of section 33 of the Ordinance. Key features of the Guidance will be highlighted. The speaker will also share a set of recommended model data transfer clauses to assist organisations in developing their cross-border data transfer agreement with the overseas data recipients.

Seminar on Protection of Personal Data for SME
Small-and-medium sized enterprises (SMEs) in their business operations collect and handle personal data for various purposes. This seminar aims to help SMEs understanding the requirements of the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance by different business function. An online self-training module on Protection of Personal Data for SMEs will be demonstrated in the seminar.
