Personal Information: Your Privacy Rights Explained

[Image of image]Right to confirm your data is held - the right to obtain confirmation from a data user (any person that controls the collection, holding, processing or use of personal information) that it does or does not hold personal data relating to you upon request within 40 days;

Right of access - the right to obtain a copy of the personal data relating to you held by a data user on request within 40 days;

[Image of image]Right of correction - the right to require correction of inaccurate personal data within 40 days;

Right to be informed of use - the right to be informed of the purposes for which personal data collected from you are to be used and the classes of persons to whom the data may be transferred;

[Image of image]Right to fair collection - the right to have your personal data collected by means that are fair and lawful and for purposes that are directly related to the functions and activities of the body collecting the data;

[Image of image]Right to give only necessary data - the right to give no more of your personal data than are necessary for the purposes for which the data are collected;

Right to consent to a change of use - the right to be asked for consent before your personal data are used for a purpose other than the purposes for which it was collected or directly related purposes;

[Image of image]Right to openness - the right to ask a data user to disclose its personal data policies and practices, and the kind of personal data held and the main purposes for which they are used;

[Image of image]Right to accuracy and security. - the right to expect that your personal data are kept accurate, up-to-date, secure and for no longer than necessary.
