2007   22 May The Commissioner issued a consultation paper on the proposed amendments to the Code of Practice on Consumer Credit Data. 22-23 June The Commissioner attended the 27th Asia Pacific Privacy Authorities (APPA) Meeting in Cairns, Australia. [image] 25-27 June The Commissioner attended the APEC SOM III and Related Meeting (ECSG Data Privacy Seminar & ECSG Data Privacy Subgroup Meeting) in Cairns, Australia. 27 June A magazine marketing company was convicted of breaching section 34(1) (ii) of the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance and was fined $6,000. 13 Aug A credit card company was convicted of breaching sec t ion 34(1) ( i i ) of the Ordinance and was fined $7,000. 26 Aug-1 Sept The PCPD organized its first international promotional campaign, Privacy Awareness Week 2007, together with APPA members aimed at raising privacy awareness in the region. [image] 28 Aug The PCPD published the "Personal Data Privacy: Guidance on Collection of Fingerprint Data". 21 Sept The Commissioner published a report on a selfinitiated investigation in which a credit company was found collecting excessive personal data from the public in a promotional activity. 25-28 Sept The Commissioner attended the 29th International Data Protect ion and Pr ivacy Commi s s ioner s Conference in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. 26 Nov-1 Dec The Commissioner attended the 5th International Conference of Information Commissioners, and the 28th APPA Meeting in Wellington, New Zealand.

2008   20-22 Feb The Commissioner attended the APEC Data Privacy Subgroup Meeting and "Workshop on Data Privacy Pathfinder" in Lima, Peru. 25 Feb A doctor was convicted of breaching sections 19 of the Ordinance and was fined $1,000.       26-27 Feb The Commissioner invited Mr. Richard Thomas (left), the Information Commissioner of the UK and Mr. David Loukidelis (right), the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia (Canada) to share knowledge and information in data protection from a regulatory perspective at an open forum in Hong Kong.
