[Image of Monitoring Compliance] Matching Procedures During the reporting year, the PCPD received six new applications for approval to carry out matching procedures and two requests for re-approval of matching procedures undertaken in previous years. There has been a significant decline in requests for re-approval largely because of revised practices adopted by the PCPD since 2003. Since then, the Privacy Commissioner has given re-approval to continue matching procedures in previous years for three years instead of one. All six new applications were requested by public sector organizations. Upon examination, two were found not to be a matching procedure, as defined under the Ordinance, and one was later withdrawn. The remaining three applications were approved subject to conditions imposed pursuant to the power of the Privacy Commissioner under the Ordinance.
