Response to data loss by HSBC

In response to the Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited (HSBC) data loss incident, the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data, Mr. Roderick B Woo said that he has to-day discussed the matter with HSBC Chairman Mr. Vincent Cheng and Executive Director Mr. Peter Wong.  "They both expressed willingness to cooperate with this office to understand the circumstances surrounding the incident.  I believe a responsible officer in HSBC will very shortly be in personal contact with us to help with our investigation."  Mr. Woo said.  He also confirmed that the HSBC has provided his office with an initial update of the incident in writing.
