Seminar on how to protect customers' and employees' personal data

Telecommunications practitioners collect and use personal data in their daily work. To raise
telecommunications practitioners' awareness of protecting personal data, the Office of Privacy
Commissioner for Personal Data will organize seminars for individual telecommunications
companies from September 2011 to February 2012 to explain to the practitioners the requirements
under the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance, analyze related cases and answer questions about
data protection compliance so as to assist them to comply with the Ordinance in their work.
Course Outline :
  • A general introduction to the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance and the
    six data protection principles with real cases illustration

  • How to protect customers' personal data – Guidance Note

  • Points to note in handling personal data of job applicants and existing
    staff

  • Q & A session
