Reaching Out to University – Privacy Commissioner’s Office and the University of Hong Kong Jointly Organise a Seminar

The Office of the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data (PCPD) and the Information Technology Services – Data Protection Office of the University of Hong Kong co-organised a seminar titled “AI Driven Education & Cybersecurity Challenges in AI: Balancing Innovation and Data Protection” on 27 June, which attracted about 150 participants from the higher education sector.

At the seminar, Ms Joanne WONG, Assistant Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data (Compliance, Global Affairs and Research) of the PCPD, shared recommendations and best practices in the PCPD’s “Artificial Intelligence: Model Personal Data Protection Framework” regarding AI governance for the protection of personal data privacy. She also introduced the PCPD’s “Checklist on Guidelines for the Use of Generative AI by Employees” published earlier this year.

The seminar was one of the key events of the PCPD’s Privacy Awareness Week 2025, held under the theme “AI Security Matters for All.”
