Personal Data (Privacy) Advisory Committee

Section 11(1) of the Ordinance provides for the establishment of the Personal Data (Privacy) Advisory Committee to advise the Commissioner on matters relevant to the privacy of individuals in relation to personal data or the implementation of the Ordinance. Chaired by the Commissioner, the meeting comprises members appointed by the Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs.

* Mr. Lo Wing-hung has served on the Committee for five years and was re-appointed for a term of one year.

During the reporting period, the Committee held its twentieththird meeting on 31 May 2007 at which members discussed the pre-requisites leading to the establishment of the Data Users Registration Scheme, the proposed system on electronic patient record and the Guidance Note on Collection of Fingerprint Data.
