With approximately 62% of households having broadband Internet access in Hong Kong, the PCPD's website has become both more important and more popular when searching for information about current privacy news and activities. Given the tremendous impact of digital media technologies, the PCPD has made a conscious effort to explore their potential in terms of enhancing its website. Other than updating contents on a regular basis, the PCPD has also refined the design of web pages and introduced new features that enable surfers to obtain and download information more easily.

In the reporting year, total hits on the PCPD's website increased to 185,842 - an average of 15,486 hits per month. On average, surfers spent as long as 40 minutes on the website, which reflected that they had the genuine interest to obtain useful information about the PCPD or data privacy in Hong Kong.

"The Privacy On-line Seminar" was a new addition placed on the website during the course of the year. This seminar features a voice-over recording with key bullet points and on-screen script (a print version is also available). Narrated by the popular disc jockey, Ms. Candy Chea, web surfers can benefit from listening to a lively presentation in a format that is readily understandable. The design of the seminar also caters to the special needs of disabled people, particularly the visually impaired.
