Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance: Attitudes and Implementation
- Key Findings

Survey Of Organizations

A mail questionnaire survey of data users was conducted from mid-February to early April in 1998. A total of 434 organizations responded. The questionnaire asked about:

  • measures taken to comply with the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance ("the Ordinance? including staff arrangements;

  • compliance with the Ordinance and policies and practices in relation to protection of personal data privacy;

  • sources of assistance including the PCPD and representative bodies;

  • attitudes towards the Ordinance.

The key findings are summarized as follows:

Compliance with the Ordinance

Most respondents took steps to comply with the Ordinance and 9% (17% in 1997) had not yet taken any measures to comply (Fig. 14).
