"Privacy is Your Business" International Video Competition
Prize Presentation Ceremony
1.
The Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data, Mr. Roderick B. Woo,
announced in the prize presentation ceremony for "Privacy is Your
Business" International Video Competition that three teams of secondary
students won the first, second and third place of both the
international and local (Hong Kong and Macao) prizes of the competition
for their brilliant performance. The competition, jointly
organized by the Asia Pacific Privacy Authorities ("APPA"), the Hong
Kong Federation of Youth Groups, and the Office for Personal Data
Protection, Macao, aimed at raising young people's awareness of
protecting privacy in the Asia Pacific region.
2. Mr. Woo said, "Secondary school students are the
future masters of our society. We hope that they could pay more
attention to privacy issues and further consider the impact of personal
data disclosure on their daily life through the participation of the
competition. In the entries, I am pleased to see that young
people respect privacy very much. It's not only their own
privacy, but also other people's privacy. I specially appreciate
that scenarios of protecting personal data privacy in daily life were
incorporated in the entries, e.g. proper protection of personal data
stored in USB flash drives, careful provision of personal data on the
Internet, no disclosure of personal data to strangers on streets, etc. "
