Personal Data (Privacy) Advisory Committee appointed

A Government spokesman today (Friday) announces the appointment of eight members to the Personal Data (Privacy) Advisory Committee.

The list is as follows:

  • Dr Chan Wai-kwan - Assistant Director of the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce;
  • Mr Lau Chun-to, Kevin - Editorial Writer of Ming Pao Daily News;
  • Mr Mark Lin - Solicitor, Clifford Chance;
  • Mr Luk Koon-hoo, Roger - Managing Director and Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Hang Seng Bank Limited;
  • Ms Tsui Wai-ling, Carlye - Chief Executive Officer of the Hong Kong Institute of Directors;
  • Professor Raymond Wacks - Professor of Law of the University of Hong Kong;
  • Mr Yeung Kwok-keung - Deputy Managing Director of the Hong Kong Air Cargo Terminals Limited;
  • Deputy Secretary for Home Affairs or Principal Assistant Secretary for Home Affairs

    "The appointment is for a term of two years with effect from October 1 this year," the spokesman said.

    "The Advisory Committee is chaired by the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data, Mr Stephen Lau Ka-men. It is established under the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance.

    "Based on their knowledge and experience in their respective fields, the members will advise the Privacy Commissioner upon any matter relevant to the privacy of individuals in relation to personal data or other matters relevant to the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance," the spokeman added.

    The appointment notice is gazetted today.
