The Privacy Commissioner
for Personal Data is an independent office established by the Personal
Data (Privacy) Ordinance (“the Ordinance”), to protect the privacy of
individuals in relation to personal data. The Privacy
Commissioner's Office (“PCPD”) is now seeking suitably qualified
candidates for the following posts in: -
(A) Legal Counsel (LC)
Remuneration
Basic salary
at $62,510 per month.
Essential Requirements
a)
|
|
A bachelor’s degree in
law from a Hong Kong university, or equivalent; |
| b) |
|
Solicitor
or barrister in a recognized jurisdiction as stipulated under the Legal
Officers Ordinance;
|
| c) |
|
Minimum
3 years post-qualification experience;
|
| d) |
|
Experience
in litigation work will be an advantage; and
|
| e) |
|
Excellent
command of oral and written Chinese and English. Proficiency in
Putonghua an added value.
|
Duties
Working under the supervision of the Chief Legal Counsel,
the Legal Counsel will: -

handle Administrative
Appeals Board cases and attend hearings;
|
| * |
|
undertake legal
researches and assist in the review of the Personal Data (Privacy)
Ordinance;
|
| * |
|
advise on legal aspects
of administration, complaints, investigations and inspections;
|
| * |
|
provide legal
support for projects undertaken by the PCPD; |
| * |
|
assist the preparation of
guidance materials, guidelines and codes of practice; and |
| * |
|
perform any other
duties as assigned by the Chief Legal Counsel.

Terms
of Employment
A contract
for 2 years.
(B) Personnel Executive (PE)
Remuneration
Basic salary at $16,760 –
21,880 per month plus a monthly cash allowance of $475
(Basic salary is offered
commensurate with experience. The amount of cash allowance shall
subject to the provision prevailing at the time the offer of
appointment is made).
Essential
Requirements
a)
|

A recognized degree or
equivalent in human resources management or business administration;
|
| b) |
|
Minimum
three years of post-qualification experience in personnel
administration, preferably gained at supervisory position in public
organizations;
|
| c) |
|
Good
command of written and spoken Chinese and English; proficiency in
Putonghua an added value;
|
| d) |
|
Knowledge
of the requirements of the Employment Ordinance and related laws and
personnel matters; and
|
| e) |
|
Mature, analytical, self-motivated and independent.
|
Duties
The Personnel Executive
will support the Assistant Administrative Manager in managing the daily
transaction and activities of personnel office. He/she will also
assist in developing, giving advice on and implementing personnel
policies and procedures.
Terms
of Employment
A 3-year contract with
gratuity of 10% of the basic salaries received over the agreement
period upon satisfactory completion of the agreement.
(C) Legal Secretary (LS)
Remuneration
Basic salary
ranges from $10,845 - $20,835 per month plus a monthly cash allowance
of $400 (Basic salary is offered
commensurate with experience. The amount of cash allowance shall
subject to the provision prevailing at the time the offer of
appointment is made).
Essential Requirements
a)
|
|
5 passes including
English (Syllabus B) and Chinese Language at Grade E / Level 2 or above
in the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination;
|
| b) |
|
Minimum 3 years
secretarial experience in legal environment;
|
| c) |
|
Good command of oral and
written Chinese and English; proficiency in Putonghua a definite
advantage;
|
| d) |
|
English and Chinese
typing speed of 50 wpm and 25 wpm or above respectively;
|
| e) |
|
Well versed in MS Word,
Excel, Powerpoint and Chinese word-processing;
|
| f) |
|
Well-organized, attentive
to details and be able to handle multiple tasks; and |
| g) |
|
An independent and team
worker.
|
Duties
The Legal Secretary will: -

provide a full range of
secretarial services to the Legal Division, such as handling of
confidential files and documents, telephone calls, facsimile messages
and emails and receiving callers and guests;
|
| * |
|
assist in preparation of
documents and appeal bundles for Administrative Appeals Board cases;
|
| * |
|
maintain a register
of all reference materials and documents of the Legal Division; and
|
| * |
|
perform any other
duties as assigned by members of the Legal Division.
|
Terms
of Employment
A 3-year
contract with gratuity of 10% of the basic salaries received over the
agreement period upon satisfactory completion of the agreement.
(D) Administrative Assistants (AAs)
Remuneration
Basic salary
ranges from $10,190 to $20,835 per month. Salary offered will be
commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Essential Requirements
a)

A diploma in business
administration or related discipline; |
| b) |
|
Two years’ working
experience in office administration (applicants having more experience
can also be considered if found with lesser qualifications); |
| c) |
|
Ability to organize well,
attend to details and work independently under pressure;
|
| d) |
|
Good command of English
and Chinese; proficiency in Putonghua an added value; and
|
| e) |
|
Pleasant character, team
spirit and good interpersonal skill.
|
Duties
The incumbent will be
deployed to provide secretarial and other clerical supports to the
different divisions of PCPD including Information Technology or the
Policy Divisions.

of Employment
A contract for
6 months.
